Shishan Park - Suzhou PRC

GMB was invited to submit for the competition to design a new cultural complex in Suzhou, PRC, including a Science and Technology Museum, a Performing Arts Theatre, and the 25,000m2 Dongwu Art Museum. The Dongwu museum was further short-listed to a final three proposals, and comprised a series of large flexible gallery spaces, together with significant foyer, sculpture garden, cafe and retail amenities and back of house spaces. The Museum is delicately integrated into the Shishan Park setting, and expressed as a series of sculptural pavilions enclosing a central sculpture garden.
