Harold Guida has over fifty years of international experience on wide-ranging architectural, interior design, and urban design projects undertaken in the US, Australia, South-East Asia, and China. As a senior partner, he provides overall design leadership for all projects undertaken by Guida Moseley Brown Architects.

Initially a partner of Mitchell/Giurgola Architects in the United States, Mr Guida relocated to Canberra with Mitchell/Giurgola & Thorp Architects in 1981 as Partner-in-Charge of Design Co-ordination for Australia’s new Parliament House, for the project’s eight year duration.

Since the completion of the Parliament House project in 1988, Mr Guida has led multi-disciplinary teams on numerous award-winning projects ranging from office interiors and private houses to school, university and civic buildings, large residential and mixed-use urban buildings, as well as public master plans and urban design proposals for education, government, private, and commercial clients. Many of the architectural projects are conceived in urban design terms due to their mixed-use components and their close and sensitive integrations into the fabric of city form. He has provided urban design and master planning consultancy services to universities, government, and private clients in Canberra, Sydney, Singapore, Putrajaya in Malaysia, Pusan in South Korea, and Suzhou and Chongqing in China.

With respect to Mr Guida’s broader professional contributions, from 1974 to 1981 he was an Adjunct Professor on the Faculty of Architecture at Temple University and in 1988/89, Visiting Professor at the Department of Architecture at California State Polytechnic University.  He has served on numerous juries, including the ACT Chapter and National Awards Juries of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects. He has lectured widely and participated in conferences on design, most recently as an invited speaker at EduBuild Asia, Singapore 2011.

Mr Guida served as a founding Council Member of DesignSingapore, and Adviser to Old Parliament House, Singapore from 2003-2005. He received the Distinguished Achievement Award (Medal) from the College of Architecture and Environmental Design at Arizona State University in 1985, and in May 2007 was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the University of the Sunshine Coast. In 2009 Mr Guida was elevated to Life Fellow of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects.

Works by Guida Moseley Brown Architects under the design leadership of Mr Guida have received numerous local, national, and international awards, and have been published widely in Australia and Asia.
