AusAid Building

Canberra ACT

The new building for the Australian Agency for International Development, AusAid, is located on Canberra’s main 'ring' Avenue at a position distant from the city centre.

The building is therefore marked and the entry located by an arrangement of horizontal and vertical metal sunscreens that are equally effective due to the specific orientation. The design has been rated at 5 stars and the building was cited at its opening in August 2007 as the 'Commonwealth’s Greenest Building'. The efficient near-square plan of six storeys totals 11,000m2, and the building has three basements of services and parking.
