Canberra International Airport

New Passenger Terminal

Phase 1 of the redevelopment of the Canberra International Airport Passenger Terminal was opened on 14 November 2010, while the remaining phase of work is under construction.

The new facilities include a structured car park for 1200 vehicles, a two level departure and arrival wing with Qantas Club facilities, and elevated roadworks serving the multiple level structure. Demolition of the now decanted wing of the old terminal will allow for the construction of a second parking structure, and similar departure and arrivals facilities, and a central atrium directly interconnecting all of the various elements. The planning is based on an axial landscaped approach road with covered drop off which allows pedestrian movement to the terminal free of traffic conflicts. Completion of the building is scheduled for 2013.
