Timothy J Brown FRAIA, Partner
Timothy Brown has over thirty years’ experience of professional practice in the UK, Australia, and South-East Asia. Following completion of diplomas in Architecture and Associateship from Manchester Polytechnic and some early experience in the United Kingdom, he moved to Australia in 1975.
He joined Mitchell/Giurgola & Thorp Architects in 1981 and by 1983 was Senior Site Architect leading a site-based team of forty-five architects on Australia’s new Parliament House project.
In 1988 he became a Partner of MGT Architects with particular interests and responsibilities for construction and contractual aspects of projects.
Since 1988, he has continued to work on a range of major and minor works of varied type and scale for which he has provided documentation delivery and contract administration leadership.
Tim Brown’s professional activities have included national representation for the Royal Australian Institute of Architects (RAIA) on the working groups for the preparation of the National Code of Practice for the Construction Industry.
He has chaired the National Practice Committee of the RAIA and has served as a Member of the Architects Board of the ACT, and as an Examiner for the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia.
He is also regularly called as an expert witness to legal counsel on construction industry matters, given his detailed knowledge and experience of the industry and the profession.
