David Antcliff, Associate
Having completed a Mechanical Engineering Certificate and Higher Certificate in Building Technology in the United Kingdom, David Antcliff joined Mitchell/Giurgola & Thorp Architects in 1981 as a member of the technical team which was formed to undertake development and research into construction techniques and finishes for the Parliament House project.
His role included the research, documentation, and on-site inspections of all global issues such as cladding, membranes, finishes, special services, and the flagpole, as well as the review of all factory processes and regular production inspections.
David undertook similar responsibilities on the ANA Hotel Sydney project and in 1993 took up residence in Singapore to oversee the construction of the 52-building Singapore Armed Forces Military Institute.
Since returning to Canberra, he has continued to provide documentation team leadership and on-site representative services to coordinate and maintain design integrity.
An experienced specialist in technical aspects of construction and building technology, he reviews all factory processes with reference to finishes, technical content and quality, as well as continuing his role as on-site representative coordinating with authorities and consultants on methods of construction.
